Platinum 3776 Century Fountain Pen - Bourgogne with Gold

Platinum’s founder, Shunichi Nakata, began to sell fountain pens, such as Waterman, shortly after the end of World War I. He believed that fountain pens had the potential to be cultural symbols and in 1924 established Nakaya Seisakusho to manufacture and sell his own pens in Ueno, Tokyo, which is home to other cultural institutions such as art and science museums. After World War II, Nakata renamed the company to Platinum Pens, after the king of all metals.
