Hobonichi started as a lifestyle website “Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun,” [Almost Daily Itoi Newspaper] in 1998 featuring “almost-daily” essays by founder and editor-in-chief, Shigesato Itoi, who is well known for other ventures including game design and songwriting. In 2001, the Hobonichi Techo [planner] was launched after positive response from readers when asked if they would purchase a techo by the brand if developed. Since then, the Hobonichi lineup has grown from 1 to 7 types, with some being available in Japanese, English, and Chinese, and has sold over 10 million copies over the world.

  • This notebook incorporates motifs based on the words of Safety Matches. Some of the ruled lines are rounded or uneven as if they written by hand. The lines are printed 7mm apart in blue.

  • Tomoe River Paper - ultra-thin and fountain pen friendly. Despite its thinness, the paper is remarkably resistant to ink bleed through.
